4 May, 2016 – It seems that the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accidents Fund’s (SMVAF) sports teams cannot stop winning at the annual Inter-Fund Games.
Once again, for a fourth consecutive year running, the SMVAF was crowned the overall champions of the Games, which were played against sister Fund’s from Namibia and Botswana. Hosted by the Swazi Fund at the Waterford Kamhlaba sports grounds on 29 April, the SMVAF soccer, volleyball and netball teams ran riot against their counterparts, dominating the gold medal podium, although succumbing to the Tswanas in the relay races.
Overall, Team Sincephetelo were crowned the overall champions of the 2016 Inter-Fund Games, with Botswana coming in second place whilst the Namibians had to settle for the bronze medal. SMVAF Chief Executive Officer Helmon Vilakati, when welcoming the participants from the various Fund’s, said that because employees spent a great deal of their time at the workplace, such games were an effective way to integrate sports and other physical activities to encourage healthy lifestyles which have proven to be beneficial to both the employer and employee.
“Physical activity in the workplace provides benefits such as better fitness and health; enhanced productivity and morale; improved team spirit and job satisfaction; lower stress levels; improved communication and inter-personal relationships amongst employees and improved concentration and mental sharpness, amongst others. As we participate and mingle together throughout the games experience, may we also utilise this opportunity to share best practises with our peers from the different Fund’s in a relaxed manner, in search of a bigger mandate which is to ultimately exchange ideas in pursuit of providing excellence towards those we serve,” he said.
