7 June, 2017 – The Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accidents Funds (SMVAF) ‘Blow before You Go’ campaign proved popular among Bushfire patrons as close to 500 revellers visited the Fund’s stall to check their alcohol content.Having setup shop on Friday evening at 6pm, the stall was a hive of activity until 3am daily, as numerous tourists and locals would visit the stall before deciding whether to drive or not.

Of the 497 that tested, only 31 imbibers were found not to be over the legal limit of 0.38 mg/l, whilst those found to have exceeded the limit were advised to stop drinking alcohol, drink lots of water which was provided by the Fund and to find a meal that would suppress the alcohol before returning to the stall to recheck their alcohol content.

Other revellers also found beyond the legal limit, were advised of the Park and Ride partnership facility between the Fund, MTN Bushfire and Total Swaziland, where these entities partnered with public transport operators to ferry revellers to their destinations at a minimal fee.

One reveller known as Zwelihle Msibi, said that he admired what the Fund was doing for revellers in terms of advocating for clean fun.”We attend events of such nature solely for the purpose of having fun. There is nothing more annoying than being stopped on your way home after a lovely night only to find that you have exceeded the legal limit, so it is gratifying to now that I can test and know where I stand before making the decision to drive or not,” he elaborated.
