June 16, 2026The Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (SMVAF) has once again demonstrated its unwavering dedication to serving the people of Eswatini, settling 1,015 claims during the financial year spanning April 2025 to March 2026.
Acting Chief Operations Officer, Phindile Mthethwa, said the achievement reflects the Fund’s strengthened systems and commitment to claimants. “During the 2025/26 financial year, we settled 1,015 claims despite a surge of 1,299 claims registered, a 16.4% increase compared to the previous year. Settlements rose by 4.3%, and importantly, 256 claimants received full payments. These are not just figures; they represent families regaining stability and hope after road accidents,” she explained.
The announcement was made during the SMVAF Business Review Forum, which brought together staff and Executive Management for discussions on performance, priorities, and future direction. The forum highlighted not only operational successes but also the Fund’s broader role in supporting victims of road accidents and promoting road safety nationwide.
Chief Executive Officer, Khangeziwe Mabuza, now six months into her tenure, shared her vision for the Fund’s journey over the next four years. “Our strategic priorities are clear, strengthening service delivery, driving operational excellence, and expanding our impact on emaSwati. Efficiency and compassion must remain at the heart of everything we do. SMVAF is not just about compensation; it is about restoring dignity and ensuring victims can rebuild their lives,” she said.
Beyond claims management, SMVAF intensified its outreach initiatives, ensuring that more people across Eswatini could access treatment and rehabilitation services. By prioritising accessibility, the Fund is helping accident victims not only survive but thrive, with improved chances of reintegration into their communities and livelihoods.
The Fund’s mission extends beyond compensation. It continues to champion road safety through nationwide campaigns, community outreach programmes, and strategic partnerships. From awareness drives in schools and communities to collaborations with law enforcement and transport stakeholders, SMVAF is positioning itself as a leader in both accident response and prevention.
The 2025/26 financial year results reaffirm SMVAF’s role as a pillar of support for accident victims and a proactive advocate for safer roads. By balancing compassionate service delivery with forward-looking safety campaigns, and by fostering collaboration through platforms such as the Business Review Forum, the Fund continues to embody its vision of protecting lives and restoring hope.
