The International Road Injury Prevention Indaba will take place on the 1st and 2nd of August 2024 at Happy Valley Hotel, Eswatini. This pivotal event will convene leading experts, policymakers, and stakeholders from around the SADC region to address the critical issue of injuries and deaths on our roads.

The Road Injury Prevention Indaba 24 will be hosted by the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (SMVAF) in collaboration with stakeholders. the aim of Indaba is to sensitize stakeholders to the impact of road crash injuries in the country. It is an intervention towards the United Nation decade of action to reduce accidents by half by year 2030.

For Eswatini an average of 6,697 road crash accidents are reported in a year with a third of these resulting in a personal injury claim. The trend from Sincephetelo MVA Fund indicates that in a week an average of E2m (more than E100m a year) claim liability is incurred. Furthermore, this situation places pressure on the health facilities that must provide medical treatment and rehabilitation. Ultimately, this hurts the economy as most of the accident victims are within the economic productive age.
